Unappreciated and Undervalued

Have you ever felt undervalued or unappreciated? I know I have.

In this episode of Imagine The Possibilities, I explore what those two feelings might be telling us about ourselves. We’ll talk about the difference between being valuable and being indispensable, how years of experience can make difficult things look easy, and why appreciation may be happening around us in ways we don’t always recognize.

I’ll also introduce something I call a reverse bucket list—a simple way to look at what we’ve accomplished, what we’ve learned, who we’ve helped, and the difference we’ve already made.

Because we’re not finished.

Courage

When I think about courage, I often picture extraordinary acts—people facing danger or risking themselves for someone else. But I’ve come to believe courage is much more personal than that. Sometimes courage appears in the ordinary moments of our lives: admitting we were wrong, having a difficult conversation, starting something new, or simply taking the next step when we’re uncertain about where it will lead. In this episode, I explore how courage, fear, experience, judgment, and our values work together. Maybe courage isn’t determined by what we do. Maybe it’s determined by what doing it requires of us.

Character

In this episode we’re exploring something that quietly shapes who we are becoming: character. I’ve come to believe that character isn’t built in one great moment. It’s formed one choice, one decision, and one act at a time. I share lessons I learned from two important people in my life—my dad and my friend and mentor, Bob—and how their examples taught me about integrity, respect, humility, and doing right in our lives. I also revisit my “bent nail theory” and ask a simple question: How do the people around us experience our character?

Purpose

What if purpose isn’t something we find, but something we recognize? In this episode I’ll be reflecting on the thread that has quietly woven its way through my life—from IBM leadership and mentoring to teaching, learning, and investing in others. Looking back I have discovered that purpose wasn’t hiding at all; it had been walking beside me the whole time. I hope this conversation will invite each of you to reflect on your own journey, recognize the thread running through your lives, and consider what purpose may be inviting you to do next.

Who Am I?

A few weeks ago, we began our journey of becoming. In this episode, let’s slow down for a moment to ask a question that most of us have asked at one time or another: Who am I? Throughout our lives we collect titles and labels, but do they really define us? Through a few stories from my own life, I’ve come to believe that who we are is revealed far more by our character and our relationships than by any title we ever hold. I hope this conversation encourages you to spend a little time reflecting on your own answer.

Becoming

Over the past few days I’ve found myself reflecting on a simple conversation that unexpectedly changed the way I look at my own life. As I replayed that conversation, I began to see that every success, every failure, every blessing, and every challenge had been quietly shaping who I was becoming. In this first episode of Season 5, I’d like to share that journey with you. My hope is that as we explore these ideas together, you’ll begin looking at your own story through a new lens and discover that perhaps the greatest journey isn’t about achievement—it’s about becoming.

Maybe the Grass Isn’t Greener

What if the grass isn’t greener somewhere else…

What if we’re just not seeing ours clearly?

In this episode of Imagine the Possibilities, I share a simple story that turned into something more—one that began early one morning… with an unexpected visitor. What started as a quiet moment became a reflection on how often we overlook what’s right in front of us.

Through that experience, I explore how our focus shapes our perspective—and how what we’re searching for might already be here.

The Word We Protect

For more than 30 years at IBM, one word shaped my thinking, my leadership, and ultimately my life: THINK. Originally introduced by Thomas J. Watson Sr. in 1914, it wasn’t a slogan — it was a responsibility. In this episode, I share how that word moved from corporate culture into personal conviction. Through a pivotal moment involving business reporting and integrity, we explore the quiet erosion of misalignment and the power of alignment. What word do you protect? And would you live it when it costs you something? THINK may be the beginning — but living it is the real work.

It Started With Eagles

Sometimes the most important lessons don’t come from books or conversations — they come from moments we never expected to matter. In this episode, I share how watching eagles over the years led me to an unexpected realization about hate, perception, and how easily we justify differences. What started as a simple wildlife observation turned into a powerful spiritual reflection about frequency illusion, emotional attachment, and the danger of focusing on what separates us instead of what unites us. This episode isn’t really about eagles or owls — it’s about us, and the daily practice of choosing love over hate.

Honesty Before Trust

In today’s episode we’re going to explore why honesty must come before trust. I’ve learned over the years that trust doesn’t grow from perfection—it grows from transparency, humility, and truth. When I’m honest with myself, I gain clarity. When I’m honest with others, relationships strengthen. And when I’m honest with God, my faith deepens. In this conversation, we will learn to walk through honesty in our personal, professional, and spiritual lives and I’ll share practical steps that help you build trust that lasts. Honesty anchors our lives in peace, and peace is something we all need more of!
