Resilience

I’ve been thinking about resilience and what that word really means in our everyday lives. We often think of resilience as our ability to bounce back after something difficult happens. But what if there’s no “back” to return to?

Sometimes resilience means recovering from a setback and continuing forward. Other times it means adapting to something we can’t change, changing direction, asking someone for help, or simply giving ourselves permission to pause while we figure out what comes next.

In this episode, I explore resilience through failure, change, loss, emotions, relationships, and even the values that help guide our decisions. I also share a personal story about losing my dad and discovering that knowing something has changed and adjusting to that change aren’t necessarily the same thing.

Maybe resilience doesn’t look the same every time we need it. And maybe we don’t need to know the next ten steps. Sometimes we simply need to understand what we know, recognize what we’re feeling, remember what matters to us, and decide what to do next.

Because resilience may not be about getting back to who we were. It may be part of becoming who we’re going to be.
