A couple of weeks ago, we began a journey of becoming. We discovered that success isn’t really the destination. Becoming is. As I reflected on that conversation, another question naturally surfaced: Who am I?
We spend our lives collecting labels—husband, wife, parent, employee, boss, retiree, Christian, survivor, friend. Every one of those titles tells part of our story, but none of them tells the whole story.
In this episode, I share two experiences that have stayed with me for many years. One began on a golf course with a businessman named Bill. The other unfolded during my forty-three years working for and with IBM. Although the settings were very different, both experiences taught me the same lesson: trust isn’t built through titles. It’s built one conversation, one decision, and one relationship at a time.
